With the assistance of LIBERO’s Service Team, Waverley Library in Sydney has launched a brand new WebOPAC, generating increased service statistics.

Designed and implemented by LIBERO’s Professional Services Team in Brisbane, the new interface was developed to promote WebOPAC use and the library’s Web 2.0 services.

“As soon as it was implemented, we started to receive positive comments from members and staff from here and surrounding libraries. WebOPAC use statistics have increased, as has use of other services, including purchase suggestions and reviews,” said Waverley’s Library Manager, Roniet Meyerthal.

LIBERO’s WebOPAC Design Service includes consultation with a skilled Web Designer to facilitate any number of objectives for libraries via a new interface, including new services.

“We wanted to stand out a bit, to modernise the library’s look. The Web Design Team offered some good points on navigation and other ways to increase useability,” she said.

Following a consultation session, the Design Team provided Waverley staff with a set of sample WebOPACS before they installed style sheets for the selected design on the library’s server.

“We’re very happy with the response to our new ‘look’ – even cleaning staff have noticed
and made comment. The simplicity of the new interface makes it so easy to navigate and our RSS Feeds, Search clouds and other services are now much more accessible,” said Meyerthal.

The WebOPAC Design Service from LIBERO is available to help libraries promote a new look, library system features or services. Layout and menu structures may be altered to increase the appeal to users or to improve navigation and useability. Different WebOPACs can also be applied to different databases or developed to promote special events and anniversaries.

The service includes a one-on-one consultation with staff to review the library’s strategy and WebOPAC menu layout options, logos and colour schemes and comes at a standard hourly rate.
