The LIBERO Excellence Award was recently presented at this year’s annual Awards Evening at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane.

Entitled ‘Celebrating Tomorrow’s Librarians’, the award was presented to Anna Kinney for outstanding achievements in her Master of Information Management (Library and Information Science) degree.

“Since I’ve been studying for my Master’s entirely online, it’s rewarding to receive face-to-face recognition for my efforts. After completing my studies at QUT this semester, I’m looking forward to visiting family, friends, and of course libraries, back in the States,” she said. Kinney received a $500 prize and trophy presented by LIBERO’s Customer Service Manager, Selena Johns at the annual Awards Evening for QUT.

2010 marks a decade of collaboration between QUT and Insight Informatics to bring the LIBERO Excellence Award to students. The award is sponsored by Insight Informatics, the Australian company that develops LIBERO and supports a customer base of more than 450 different libraries and organisations around the world.
“As a former Library student and someone who works with Library staff daily, I recognise how challenging a course in Information Science is and admire Anna for her efforts to come top the class….” said LIBERO’s Selena Johns.

“We’re very proud to once again support the LIBERO Excellence Award,” said LIBERO’s founder and company director, Sam Patane.

“We continue to strive to find new ways to ensure the library management industry has the best available resources – and that includes talent such as Anna’s,” he said.

“LIBERO works in many ways to support all facets of library management – including motivating the next generation of librarians to pursue their passion for information management. Supporting this award was a great opportunity to ensure the importance of Library Management as a modern-day vocation remains understood” he said.
