Moreland City Libraries in Victoria has recommended LIBERO to Council following a recent Tender for an integrated library management solution.
The public library initiated a Request for Tender process in May, taking the opportunity to review alternatives upon the end of contract with their existing library management supplier.
Council sought a web-based library management solution that would enhance the user experience for both staff and borrowers at Moreland City Library’s five branches.
Following a rigorous process by Moreland’s Evaluation Committee, including site visits and product demonstrations, LIBERO was finally recommended to Council on September 8.
In its submission to Council, Moreland City Libraries recommended LIBERO “firstly on its functional superiority and secondly on its proven track record in providing excellent customer service”.
LIBERO’s ability to deliver a ‘modern library web interface’, multilingual functionality, and Web 2.0 features were identified as critical to achieving Moreland’s strategic direction.
Developed in Australia, LIBERO is a library management solution currently deployed across 137 New South Wales public libraries and over 450 sites world-wide. Contract negotiations with Moreland City Libraries have commenced, representing a critical strategic milestone; LIBERO’s first Victorian public library site.
“We are very pleased to have been recommended by Moreland City Libraries,” said Ben Cronin from LIBERO’s Brisbane head office.
“We encourage Victoria’s public libraries to watch the result of the partnership between LIBERO and Moreland City Libraries.”
“Our long-standing association with Australia’s public libraries means LIBERO is one of the most refined solutions for this market. We’re looking forward to demonstrating LIBERO’s capabilities with Moreland City Libraries and increasing our presence in the Victorian region in particular,” he said.
Four alternatives were considered in the tender. LIBERO’s Australian-based development, international client base and managed service options were also identified as positive considerations in Moreland City Library’s Recommendation Report. Moreland has a stable population of some 145,000. It is linguistically and culturally diverse, hence the importance of LIBERO’s multilingual functionality.
LIBERO Version 6 is currently being implemented at libraries and organisations across the national LIBERO client base in the form of an upgrade and new sites across Australia.
