We are pleased to announce the introduction of Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for logging into the Libero 6 Dashboard, improving security and access controls.
With 2FA, an additional layer of authentication can be added, where staff have the flexibility to receive a verification code via Email, SMS, or Time-based One-Time Passwords (TOTP).
Benefits of using 2FA for library accounts include:
- 2FA significantly improves security by making it much harder for unauthorised users to gain access to members’ accounts. Even if someone has a password, they will also need the second factor (verify a code sent via email, mobile or authentication app) to log in.
- Many regulatory and compliance standards require the use of 2FA to protect sensitive information. Implementing 2FA can help libraries meet these requirements.
- Modern 2FA methods, such as SMS codes and email, are relatively user-friendly. They provide added security without requiring a complex setup for most library staff.
- 2FA helps increase staff awareness about security risks and the importance of protecting their accounts, which can lead to better overall cybersecurity practices.
“We are thrilled to be able to assist libraries in improving security, protecting sensitive member information and introducing measures that help prevent unauthorised access to library resources”, says John Thompson, Knosys CEO.
