Libero Libraries can soon offer new and exciting ways to interact with the library catalogue via integration with LibraryThing for Libraries, one of the most talked about ‘next generation’ interfaces.
Via the LibraryThing for Libraries (LTFL) catalogue enrichment tool, Libero users can provide patrons with access to a range of Web 2.0 features and interactive content including book recommendations, ratings and reviews.
The interface provides patrons with direct access to a community of 900,000 book lovers and ability to find like-minded readers and their recommended books. Users can also browse the catalogue by tags, or find similar books recommended by readers.
All LTFL data appears seamlessly in the Libero OPAC, as a part of the library catalogue record or as standard OPAC functionality for libraries with a LTFL subscription.
“This new feature will allow library users to connect with like-minded readers and inform future borrowing. It’s a particularly appealing feature for Libero’s public libraries, to enhance the user experience,” said Libero’s Founder, Sam Patane.
“Integration with LibraryThing for Libraries is just another way we are helping Libero Libraries maximise their services,” he said.
The interface also allows users to find related editions and translations of the same work without having to return to the search screen. Users can promote their own reviews and the library with library-branded ‘blog widgets’ and a Facebook application feature.
“This is a fantastic way to socialise your library and help patrons find new books to read,” said Patane.
“The look and feel of the solution is great. I think Libero users are going to love it,” he said.
Integration between Libero and LibraryThing for Libraries is on schedule to be complete this month. The integration capability comes free with Libero’s latest version, Version 6.
