Riverina Regional Library celebrate 20 years with LIBERO

Established in 1978, the Riverina Regional Library is the largest regional library service in NSW. It provides library services to approximately 136,630 constituents of 10 local government areas, those being the shires of Bland, Coolamon, Federation, Greater Hume, Gundagai, Junee, Lockhart, Temora, Snowy Valleys and the City of Wagga Wagga.

The service consists of 18 stationary library branches and a mobile library spread over an area of 47,917 sq km. In addition to its Libraries and Deposit Stations, they provide a Mobile Library serving 28 communities!

In 1996, Riverina Regional Library went to tender for a new innovative and fully-integrated system with functionality that could handle a consortia scenario and satisfy the library’s pioneering approach to library management in the long term. LIBERO was the winning solution and the rest is history.

With the support of Insight Informatics, the Australian company that develops and services the LIBERO Library Management System, Riverina Regional Library has established growth, new services and initiatives that have kept the library at the cutting edge of Library Management and advances in technology.  They have successfully integrated services between the 19 branches, facilitated a number of key initiatives including growth, RFID services and improved data quality, allowing staff to confidently deliver services. Together with Insight Informatics and LIBERO, Riverina Regional library continues to deliver innovative services to members, achieve leading standards in library management and realise all their ambitious objectives.

Just recently Riverina Regional Library implemented the online member re-registration development in LIBERO Version 6.3.3. Here’s what Brian Plummer the Support eServices Coordinator had to say

” We set up our re-registration template recently and ran our first lot of email re-registration reminders on under the new functionality.  We set a 10 day “pending” period for registration (we may look at extending this depending on feedback).

In the 24 hours after the reminders were sent we had 188 members re-register online, updating details etc.  Many of those also left comments in the “reason for change” field like “Great functionality”, “this is so easy” etc. etc.

We are now turning our attention to the “Online Registration” development.  We have our templates set up and are opening it up for staff testing this week.  I think our biggest challenge with it will be the logistics of implementing it at the branch level, sorting out workflows etc.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this development, I’m sure a lot of libraries are going to find it very beneficial.”

It is with brilliant feedback like this, and their continual approach to pioneering new technologies and initiatives that has contributed greatly in LIBERO’s success over the years.

The Insight Informatics internal philosophy is to share ideas for LIBERO amongst the entire work team, with information gleaned from thought leaders around the globe.  Information is constantly thrown into the discussion forum where everyone is invited to comment and make recommendations.  We have a services team and developers who are passionate about incorporating new ideas and pushing the product to achieve more and management who are consistently ‘on the road’ talking to customers like Riverina Regional Library and noncustomers alike, looking out for new trends and the latest developments to incorporate into LIBERO.

All of us at LIBERO are extremely grateful for the exceptional relationship that we have developed with Riverina Regional Library over the last 20 years. And on behalf of the entire Insight Informatics team we would like to say a heartfelt HAPPY 20 YEARS!!! to Robert, Brian, Helen and the rest of the Riverina Regional Library team. We look forward to many more years together.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
